WHY DOES AMERICA NEED TO GET OUT OF CHINA
73
This Hub will attempt to address and shed light on three very important issues of our time which affect the daily lives of us all.
What’s the danger of doing business with China? And why do American millionaires and billionaires, think that doing business with china is such a grand idea?
Let’s start with [The Good Old Days], those Bays being during the late nineteen 1950’s.
America was well on its way to recovering from World War Two, a new GI bill made it possible for returning GI’s to purchase homes. A new high way system was being created; that would foster the birth of the American Suburban culture, and a time of posterity for all.
Racial attitudes were changing and this country could look forward to many years of economic productivity on a scale never before herd of by any nation.
But let’s take a look behind the scenes of that same era and see what makes an economic relationship with China today such a dangerous venture.
The Korean Conflict was fought during the 1950’s. For world politics this was the beginning of the Cold War and the two major counties, America and Russia were building up, nuclear arsenals that assured mutual destruction.
But as the North Korean bully sought to convert the entire country of Korea to Communism, America came to its aid.
Then at a certain point in the conflict, [Communist Red China,] invited itself in to the conflict, and more than any thing else this was the determining factor, that sees a divided Korea to day. Now hold that thought.
As America moved into the Sixties, the French fled from their attempts to colonize Viet Nam, fearing that this would be the next likely takeover point for Communism, and of course to keep the Military Industrial Complex, in the Global, loop of military capability, the United States weighed in.
Eventually America departed from Viet Nam, but the point that may be missed by some historians in that the decision was not made by the Viet Gong, but by the intervention of, [Communist Read China.]
Their pilots flew Russians Miggs and their ground troops, 1 million deep, gave support to the North Viet Nameze, during the Tet Offensive, and other note worthy battles; that saw the tide ebb back and forth, during the years of struggle for the hearts and minds of the Viet Nameze people.
That brings us to 2011 and the ever present danger we face from a nation that has never been our friend and never will.
The simple reason is the vast differences in the two cultures. Rather than get off tract and sour you the reader; by pointing out those differences you can research the Chinese culture, and find for yourselves what those differences are.
Then there is the long term fight over Taiwan. For a long time Taiwan has been a strong hold for Capitalist, and a place where self exiled expatriate Chinese could indulge in the decadent ways of the Western World, exempt from out dated Chinese rules.
Any threat to take back sovereignty of Taiwan by China has been met with threats of military violence by our countries and others, who’s businesses thrive there.
Which brings us to the reason why American businesses think it’s such a great idea to do business with China.
China boast a population of 1,337,516,109 as compared to the US population of 313,637,860, it is the number of potential sales of products that has businesses throwing American workers under the bus and placing this nation at risk, to get to Chinese Yen.
The presumption of American Military Superiority, and advance weaponry give these Barons of greed a feeling of invincibility, but as we read more and more about, Cyber hacking and situations like Pakistan turning over a stealth Helicopter to China, that perceived; cloak of invincibility, becomes more of a tattered rag.
But the very idea of the big bonuses that are to be gained and the untold riches that can be obtained by doing business with China, not only from sales but also from tapping into the Chinese population who’s demand for wages is only a percent of what Americans ask for; is well worth the prize.
So “our” politicians fight for the rights of the corporate giants to beat down collective bargaining, and lower health care contributions by the companies that employee Americans, because every dollar they save is one more dollar they have to put into the global money pot, and invest in China’s profit margin.
And after the global economic change has taken place, the few the proud and the very, very, very wealthy who now control the world through its money and markets can claim bragging rights.
What they fail to understand is that China is not going to let things go that far. Just like Big Oil, was run out of the Middle East, once China has achieved its goals, of economic and military parity with the US. and its allies, the party will be over.
Big question is. Will China be willing to stop there or will they go for the whole thing? Will they decide that World Domination is within their grasp and capitalize on the advance weapons they’ve stolen and the ability to control the worlds access to the inter net?
They say if you play with fire you will get burned and it is worth noting that one of China’s symbols is a Fire Breathing Dragon, who’s attention has been turned towards the West.

I believe your caution is well founded. The uber-rich see everything as dollars and cents, since China is doing so well they are supporting and investing in China, when China feels they don't need their suppot anymore they will nationalize their money and businesses and take their wealth and no one will be able to stop them. The U.S. is totally indebted to China and would have a hard time pressuring them. China has been manuevering into position and will do as they please. Caution is required,
Peter
Mio Cid has the right idea. Have you ever heard that maxim that no matter what you do or say, a billion Chinese couldn't care less. I don't understand why you believe they have a megalomania agenda, human beings are the same everywhere there are just more of them in China than most places.
We don't need to fear them for a few reasons:
They are going through their own industrial revolution which will inevitably involve modern western ideas like having weekends, minimum wages and fire safety codes. As the lower economic bracket starts to have a larger stake in the collective wealth then a fair system will naturally evolve over time. Ultimately my argument can be summed up like this:
In Roman times you had to appease the forces of the mob, the military and the aristocracy. In China THE MOB is scarier than anywhere else in the world. This is evident by the rising up of the communist party in the first place, the longest march in history.
In coming generations their population will drop drastically. The first drop will simply occur because of the various licensing on reproduction rights. Then a little later it will significantly drop again because for decades girls are not the preferred gender of choice so they will have a significant drop in reproductive output. Also can you imagine a population where 50%-75% are elderly, the young will be seriously entrenched in the healthcare industry.
Nah, you don't need to worry about China. The real threat is crazy cults that want to release a super-virus (like that crazy Japanese religion or the Salmonella salad ones in Oregon). In the Amazon when a particular insect species becomes too numerous then a corticepts variant emerges infecting and killing only that one particular insect species. Humanity has increased from 2 billion people in the 1920's to nearly seven billion today and as we multiply and congregate and travel... China isn't scary, whatever germ gets us is.
Your concerns are very valid.
Only i think the active part is not played by American business. America has little chance to pull out, because America is not even in. Trade imbalances give the hint. Export from China is the active part, importing may be a business idea, but is definitely not an aggressive economic or industrial model. America is not in control and has never been from the times of Nixon playing PingPong in China.
I do business with China for decades. Some 20 years ago a Hongkong based friend told me that the Chinese are absolute serious about their wording Zh?ngguó "Middle Empire", Middle meaning the center of the world. More than 20 years ago Chinese businessmen were fully aware of the enormous potential in bringing backward China to world standards. Growth rates of 10% per year were considered conservative.
The whole thing is very much a cultural matter. Western success has been based on the individuality of personal success. The Chinese success (at least at this stage) is more based on social, family type thinking. Every manager in Chinese corporate hierarchies still understands himself to be part of the family.
This will change in the future and i tend to agree with the comment of mio cid that things level out at the end. For the role of America, this is an academic question. While some years ago i thought the fate of America and China were linked together (Chimerica), today after the Lehman Crisis and the next crisis appearing on the horizon the influence of America is receding and CHImerica has to written with large CHINA and small america. This must not be bad, it is just a change.
By the way, i recommend reading Huntingtons: Clash of civilizations, explains a lot of what is going on on this planet.
My husband would totally agree with your views on China. I do agree with it as well and also with the fact that corporations and large stockholders care only about profits, regardless of where they come from. Which is why they moved everything off shore...well, don't get me started. LOL

everything in history tends to even out at the end, i think we need not fear china, because as they well know they are far from being equal to the US in any parameter , be it military, economic, technological,etc...they may try to poke our eye once in a while if they get a chance but they have no interest in any all out confrontation with the US, only because their own progress is dependent on us.the tremendous advantage they started out with in commerce and manufacturing is slowly degrading as their population has access to more and better goods and services and want even more.you can't pay a chinese worker with a bowl of rice for a day's work anymore.so their wages increase, their money becomes stronger, and they start facing the problems of being an industrialized country .
