RED CARPET TREATMENT AT WWW.SOCIAL SECURITY.GOV

By

Rolling Out The Red Carpet

How many times have you found yourself cursing and going hysterical while trying to take care of business with a government bureaucrat?

How often have you wanted to blow your brains out rather than spend another minute being humiliated by someone representing a government office?

Well take heart this is a feel good story that you can take to the bank. Though you may hear what seems like horror stories about how the current administration cut government, by reducing the number of people available to help us in government offices.

On the other hand what we can't see is that the High-Tech, side of the government, and the customer relations aspect has been upgraded.

While talking to a representative of the Social Security Administration, I discovered just how deep the desire to serve and satisfy the taxpayer is.

I called to have a question answered concerning some, Social Security business I needed to take care of.

I figured I get the regular disgruntled Gov. employee, and spend a few minutes trying to control my blood pressure while I took care of my business.

To my surprise it didn't happen that way at all. Because it was early in the week, a time when most people try to take care of their affairs, I had a ten minute Wait.

During the wait an automated recording came on and collected my vital statistics, it took about eight minutes. The automated voice thanked me for my information, and after another, two minutes of waiting I was connected with a real person.

After reviewing my vital statistics and getting getting some more personal information to make sure I was, who I claimed to be, the lady asked me my reason for calling, I told her what I needed and she immediately connected me with a specialist in that dept.

At this point she introduced me to the specialist who's name is: Ms.Terry Ledford. and this is where I was overwhelmed. With in a matter of minutes, business that I thought would take a month or more and cause me endless frustration, was over.

I didn't have to call Binder and Binder, or any other activist group. I didn't need to supply endless duplicate copies of my Medical history.

The whole thing was moving so fast, I asked Ms. Ledford when the Social Security Administration had implemented the Red Carpet Treatment for taxpayers?

She giggled and explained to me that the Administration had reduced staff in it's satellite offices but increased the quality of services that were available on line and by phone.

So take heart if you have business with the Social Security Administration, Put on your slippers, go sit in your favorite chair, and prepare yourself for a pleasant experience. The Red Carpet Treatment by a government bureaucracy.

And be sure to ask for Ms.Terry Ledford. Benefits Specialist, with the U.S. Social Security Administration.
