MISS U.S.A. CONTROVERSY
By Jeromeo
THE FIRST AMENDMENT
In the Miss U.S.A. controversy one of the real casualties is our First Amendment Right of Freedom of Speech.
Yes, we live in a country were we, supposedly, are free as individuals to voice are opinions with out fear of persecution on discrimination.
But as we witness the fall-out, and persecution of for Ms. Prejean for giving an honest response to a question that should have never been asked; in a public forum/ the Miss U.S.A. PAGEANT, we are watching our first Amendment Rights, being trampled on.
Whether a person believes in Gay Marriage or not is a strictly personal question, and for the person, making the decision for themselves to decide, and keep private.
In making the decision...if they choose to consult their priest, or another family member, then this also is totally up to their discretion.
So the question was clearly in appropriate and Miss Prejean could have fallen back to that position and been well with in her rights.
But she offered a honest and personal answer. Then you consider that the judge asking the question should have been professional enough to separate his personal feelings on the subject from the purpose of the pageant; to measure the pose and charisma of the Miss U.S.A. contestants.
We can only conclude that this judge gave Miss California a failing grade, out of revenge, for her honesty; about a subject dear to him personally. She should have receive bonus points for ..one...answering the question and...two...for offering an honest answer.
Early in the formation of being a [True Christian] the model was set when the question was asked, "let he, who is with out [SIN], cast the first stone." So if we profess to be [True Christians] even though we may have a negative opinion about Homosexuality it is not our place to condemn or persecute anyone who does.
Miss PreJean, did not condemn any one or engage in any persecution directed at those who favor Same-Sex-Marriage. In fact she went out of her way to be apologetic before she voiced her personal disposition on the matter.
But in a world where anyone claiming any sort of religious belief can be labeled as part of an endangered species. We are still seeing fall-out. I guess the unkindest cut of all is when a recent CNN commentator, trashed Miss Prejean's efforts to better herself by criticizing the fact that she had breast implants and wore a Bikini during the competition.
How that compares to a man acting as if he's a woman or a woman acting as if she's a man, I'll never understand. And I would use my freedom of speech to call into question this commentators integrity as a journalist and a woman. [Must be all about the Benjamins]
Mr. Donald Trump, who owns the rights to the Miss. U.S.A. pageant is suppose to speak out on the final out come for Miss Prejean, sometime tommorrow. this in an effort to save the Miss USA, brand I have no doubt.
The Miss America pageant claims it has received millions so protest about the out come of the Miss. USA, pageant form people thinking that Miss USA and Miss America, are one in the same. They are not. But never one to blow a chance to keep the value of his stock up, Trump is expected to exhonorate Miss Prejean for speaking out on behalf of traditional marriage between a man and a women.
I hope I have been fare to both sides of this argument, I have reserved my personal position of the matter because this HUb is not about me, it's about out collective rights to speak on any subject we feel passionately about and not have to fear persecution.
Since I consider myself a [True Christian] I will not persecute, or condemn...any group, or individual for using their [God] given [Free Will,] to choose what they feel is right for them. And since I feel the whole thing is a private matter I will keep my opinion on the matter of, Same...Sex...Marriage, to myself.
When we fail to stand for the rights of others we, we eventually loose our own rights.
